Apimondia, the Italian Beekeepers' Federation and the Honey Research Center of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" are pleased to invite you
to the 2nd International Forum on Apitherapy "APIMEDICA and APIQUALITY 2008" in Villa Mondragone Congress Center, Rome, Italy.
The Forum aims to point out the health benefits of bee products by demonstrating their properties, the minimum number of bioactive compounds
having a pharmacological activity, the reproducibility of their effect in the various diseases and the mechanism of action at
biological level. Moreover, bee products of quality should be residues-free.
Bee products contain a range of pharmacologically active compounds that allow to classify and use them as functional food.
However, the quality of bee products is affected by biodiversity of bee plants and their safety. Therefore, full product characterization and quality
control are necessary for the reproducibility of scientific tests and standardization.
In the first International Forum Apimedica 2006 several considerations were given to the relation between Apitherapy and official
medicine and how they could complement each other rather than be rivals.
The "Apimedica and Apiquality" Forum falls in line with the focus that Apimondia has been pursuing in recent years and aims
at the development and improvement of quality standards on apitherapy and bee products for the benefit of both beekeepers and the public at large.
